What is BITSAT?

BITSAT 2021 is an entrance exam conducted by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses (BE) at its three campuses located at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. Admission will be offered to the candidates into BE, BPharm and MSc programmes after qualifying for the admission test. The exam is conducted online and around 3 lakh students apply for this entrance exam every year. BITSAT, a computer-based entrance exam, is expected to be conducted in the third or fourth week of June 2021.

BITSAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Mentioned below are BITSAT 2021 eligibility criteria that aspirants need to fulfil to appear for the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test.

For admission to any of the First Degree programmes of BITS except BPharm (Hons):  

  • Aspirants should have passed the class 12th examination from a recognised Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates must have adequate proficiency in English.
  • Aspirants should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects.

For admission to BPharm (Hons):   

  • Aspirants should have passed the class 12th examination from a recognised Central or State board or its equivalent with the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Candidates must have adequate proficiency in English. However, candidates with PCMB in Class 12 can also apply for the Pharmacy programme at BITS campuses.
  • Aspirants should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (and Maths, if they are PCMB students) subjects with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (and Maths, if they are PCMB students) subjects.

Additional Eligibility Criteria to keep in mind:

  • Only students who are appearing for the Class 12 examination in 2021 or have passed in 2020 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT 2021. Students who have passed their Class 12 examination in 2019 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT 2021.
  • If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in the 12th class or its equivalent, only his/her latest performance will be considered, provided this attempt had been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed.
  • Students who are presently studying in any of the BITS campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT 2021.
  • Admissions will be made purely on a merit basis. The merit position of the candidate for admission is based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT 2021. However, their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in the Class 12 board exam, as mentioned above. 

BITSAT 2021 Direct Admission to Board toppers

First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the year 2021 will be given direct admission to the programme of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2021 score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. BITSAT 2021 Admission Process

Step 1: Fill BITSAT 2021 Application Form

Candidates need to fill BITSAT 2021 application form online on their official website.

  • Candidates also need to pay the application fee (Rs 3400 for males and Rs 2900 for girls) for the BITSAT 2021exam. After paying the application fee, the application process for the exam would be considered complete.
  • Candidates also need to give three preferences of Test Cities where they would like to take the exam.

Step 2: Book BITSAT 2021 Slot

  • BITSAT will allot a Test Center that is in one of the three city preferences given by the candidate in the application form.
  • Then candidates need to book a slot (Morning slot or Evening slot) on the official website of the exam. You can learn more about the BITSAT 2021 slot booking process.

Step 3: Download BITSAT 2021 Admit Card (Hall Ticket)

  • Candidates who will book their slot for the exam can download their BITSAT admit card from the official website. 
  • BITSAT admit card is a mandatory document to appear for the exam.

Step 4: Appear for BITSAT 2021 Exam

  • Candidates will need to thoroughly go through the BITSAT exam pattern, take mock tests, and practice previous years Question Papers and Sample Papers to fare well in the exam.

Step 5: Check BITSAT 2021 Result

  • BITS Pilani will declare BITSAT Result on the official website of the exam. BITSAT result contains the admit list as well as a waitlist.

Step 6: Appear in BITSAT 2021 Counselling

  • Candidates who qualify for the exam and make it to the merit list will need to appear for the BITSAT 2021 counselling/iteration. Students will be allotted seats as per their ranks and choice of course/institute during the counselling.
