CAT 2021 exam will be conducted in the last week of November on Sunday as per the previous trends. Going by the trend of CAT exam in the past few years, the tentative dates were 28th November 2021.
However, CAT is a national level MBA entrance exam conducted by the IIM for admission to over 1,200 B-Schools across India. CAT exam is conducted online mode at over 400 test centres across India.
The CAT question paper comprises both 100 MCQ questions and some subjective question from, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. The CAT exam has been traditionally conducted for 180 minutes, but the duration was reduced to 120 minutes for CAT 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. But the examination authority is expected to go back to 180 minute in 2021.
Registration and application process for CAT 2021 will commence from first week of August 2021. Candidates can fill CAT 2021 registration forms online from August. As per the previous trends it is expected that CAT 2021 will be conducted in more than 156 test cities across India in both morning and afternoon shifts. List of CAT 2021 test centers will be decided by the centres will be decided by the test conducting body on the basis of applicants strength and their nearest cities.
CAT Eligibility Criteria:
The minimum eligibility criteria for CAT exam is graduation. Read below for more details on CAT eligibility criteria.
The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 50 percent aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45 percent aggregate for SC, ST, and PWD/DA category) from a recognized board or university
The candidate must have completed a professional degree (CA/ CS/ ICWA) with the required percentage
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification or awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the CAT exam
Changes in CAT Exam Pattern
- In CAT 2020, the time duration of the exam was reduced from 180 minutes to 120 minutes. For each section, the candidates got 40 minutes.
- The number of exam slots was increased from two to three: Slot 1- 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM, slot 2 – 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, slot 3 – 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
- CAT application fee was increased from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,000 for General category students. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the fee was increased from Rs 950 to Rs 1,000.
- The candidates can select up to six cities for the allotment of the CAT exam center. Till 2019, the number of preferred test cities was limited to four. To read more, click here
