IIM Shortlist 2021: Check Dates, Cut-Offs, Shortlist and Admission Status of all IIMs

Check institute-wise IIM shortlist dates and status for MBA admission 2021. Read to know all about IIM shortlist and selection process for 2021-23 batch.

The 20 Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) campuses began to shortlist candidates for PGP/MBA admission 2021 after CAT 2020 result announcement. IIM Kozhikode was the first IIM to launch the online application window for the same. CAT 2020 qualifiers who had selected IIM Kozhikode as their preferred institute in the CAT application form could apply for WAT-PI round of the institutes. IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Visakhapatnam started their shortlisting process on January 13, while IIM Lucknow started on January 15. IIM Bangalore released the shortlist as late as January 20 while IIM Calcutta started shortlisting process on January 27. IIM Indore and IIM Amritsar also released PGP shortlist 2021 in the third week of January. IIM Nagpur was the last of the IIMs to start the shortlisting process. The institute started PGP shortlisting on March 3. The last date to apply for WAT-PI is March 25, 2021.

The IIM shortlisting process includes online application submission by candidates for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) and selection of candidates for the same based on their CAT 2020 result and academic record. Candidates should be ready to fill the shortlist forms of their preferred institute soon after the result. Candidates can check their shortlist status and fill the online form to participate in the second round of IIM admission using their CAT login IDs.

IIM Shortlisting and Selection Process 2021

The IIM shortlisting and selection process for MBA admission includes three stages.

Stage 1: Shortlisting of candidates on the basis of their CAT exam score

Once the CAT result is announced, the candidates are asked to apply for WAT/GD-PI round by each IIM on its official website basis of their CAT score vs CAT cut-offs.

Stage 2: Screening of candidates for WAT-GD-PI

In the second stage, the institute shortlists the candidates who applied for WAT-GD-PI on the basis of their CAT score and academic record and sends them WAT-GD-PI invites.

Stage 3: Calculation of Composite Score and Final Selection

In the third stage, the composite score of each candidate is calculated on the basis of parameters such as CAT score, WAT-PI performance, academic history, work experience, diversity, etc. to finalize their selection.

IIMs WAT-GD-PI: Documents to Carry

  • Mark sheets of Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation (original and self-attested photocopies). 
  • Caste/class and/or disability certificate in case of SC, ST, NC-OBC and PwD candidates (original and self-attested photocopies).
  • Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) examination must show a certificate from the Principal/Registrar/Director of the university/institution certifying that he/she has obtained a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate or equivalent (45 per cent in case of the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD category) in the latest available grades/marks.
